DIRECTV British Open Mix

DIRECTV will continue to bring their subscribers the best in expanded golf coverage this week, this time with extensive coverage of the British Open tournament. This will be the first time that DIRECTV offers its unique Mix coverage of the British Open.

The satellite TV provider has titled its coverage The British Open Experience, and viewers will find features similar to last months US Open Mix and the Masters Mix interactive viewing coverage which debuted in April 2008. Three additional channels of coverage will be in store for viewers during play on the first two days of the tournament. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like coverage will extend into the weekend rounds of golf this year.

The headliner will once again be the British Open Mix channel, found on DIRECTV channel 701. Four views will be available here, the main network feed from TNT followed by three additional HD channels. The nice thing with the DIRECTV Mix is that the additional channels are all presented without commercials.

From the main British Open Mix channel, viewers will be able to click to the channel of their choice for a full screen view. DIRECTV channel 702 will show the live TNT coverage in HD. The other three channels will show additional ongoing play and highlights. These channels will include:

Featured Holes on channel 703. This year’s British Open is being held on the Alisa course at Turnberry. The featured holes on this channel will be the 9th, 10th, and 11th.

The 18th hole on channel 704. One of the most famous holes in golf, the 18th at Turnberry has been lengthened a bit making it even more difficult. Golfers will have to carefully negotiate the 18th if they want a shot at taking home the coveted Claret Jug.

Highlights channel on 705. Missed some of the day’s action? Tune in here to find the latest highlights as well as interviews with top PGA professionals before they tee off and after they finish their rounds. All five British Open Experience channels will be broadcast in high definition.

Using your red DIRECTV Scoreguide button while on the Mix channels will give you access to any of the other channels quickly. Your red remote button will also give you quick access to the current leader board, hole by hole stats for every player, and daily trivia on the Open Championship.
