The install & picture was & is great! The problems I encountered are: confusing user-friendly instructions re. favorite channel proceedures. Should be listed "ck. mark to keep or ck. mark to delete! Also, unable to record more than 2 shows at same time - reason: with standard channels & HD channels, one of them has to be in-activated! By doing so, you can now record 4 shows in HD and none in standard or vise-versa or mixture of each! Why isn't Uverse set up[ to automatically remove the second channel ie 4 or 1004?
Also, to go through & try to see which channels are HD & which are not when deleting one of them to escape the double recording of the same show, you can't just enter in the channel number on the favorites screen - you must "scroll down or up"!!! Unreal AT&T! Is "hide channel"the same as "not ok to record?" Very User-un-friendly!!! The channel line up is alphabetical but not numerical so to enable more efficient channel ID when setting up a favorites list! Lastly, what's up with Caller ID on the screen?

CORRECTION

I see Verizon now offers MLB Extra Innings on FIOS... so maybe there is hope for Uverse. Maybe AT&T just has to step up to the plate and bring the heavy lumber!

@ Victor "But uverse cant even offer NBA ticket or MLB extra innings. Whats up with that?

Well, I'm an unhappy TWC customer who wanted to give Uverse a try so I did some digging and found that InDemand, which provides the MLB Extra Innings & NBA Ticket, is co-owned by Comcast, TWC, Cox Comm and Advance/Newhouse. I'm thinking neither AT&T Uverse nor Verizon Fios is getting either of these anytime soon.

Well, I've been very happy with my DirecTV but had the Bellsouth/ATT fast DSL service and it was was less than stellar. I never got anywhere near the 6MB download I was paying for, that and it would cut off once every three hours like clockwork, for like 3 minutes, which is a pain when you use the internet for your business and have to reset VPN connections.

Neighbors had issues with u-verse due to being too far down the street, and they're about as far down as we are... That and the u-verse installer left a mess.. conduit on the ground next to the phone box on the side of the house, opened that and they had left the part we shouldn't have access to unlocked, and a mess internally.

I'm glad I went with Clear. It's only 6MB but it's consistently 6MB.

I'm just happy reading these posts that I haven't swithced from DirecTV. I've never had any issues with it except under the most extreme of weather conditions, that and I have three HD Televesions/DVR's in the house, each recording their own programming... U-verse would have been a great idea, had they really put the thought into the architecture.

We just switched from DirecTV to U-Verse. So far, so good. We had DirecTV for 14 yrs and loved it. In the beginning, yes, we lost signal quite often due to weather. The last 11 yrs, we didn't have a bad problem. If we had a hard snow storm, it may go out for about 15 minutes tops. I know of neighbors who had cable who experienced the same thing.

I am getting used to only 2 HD feeds, but I hear they are working on it. HD quality looks good. Some was a little better with DirecTV, but not much better.

Guess I am fortunate. I always had great service and customer service with DirecTV and have had the same with ATT U-Verse so far. The installer was outstanding.

We did cut out the landline, but still have U-Verse and Internet. We will see how everything goes as time goes on. Just getting used to remembering to go to the 1000+ channels for HD. At least channel 4 is only 1004 on U-Verse. Makes it pretty easy for an old man to remember.

We switched from DirecTv to Uverse about 2 months ago and could not be more UNHAPPY. We switched because we got a new HD television and we wanted a new package with more HD channels. WORST DECISION EVER. We had to get the receiver exchanged within the first week because it kept turning itself and our new television on and off. The installer told us that that happens "more than they would like".

Our television constantly freezes, the sound often does not work and the only way to fix this is apparently turning the television on and off. You also can only get 1 HD channel at a time, and this, said the installer, was because we are too far from "the box" whatever that means. This means we can only record 1 HD channel at a time on the DVR, if you want to record 2 things at once in HD, that's too bad..

DON'T GET UVERSE!!! save yourself the headaches!!

Did I mention it took about 4 days for the installation to be completed??

I am fairly happy with my uverse service. They certainly took a long time to get it installed, but once it was up and going it runs like a champ. Internet speeds are terrific, and I really have no complaints on the TV service. Well, maybe one. Uverse doesnt seem to have much when it comes to the premium sports offers. I liked the NFL Sunday Ticket, but understand that only comes with DirectTV. But uverse cant even offer NBA ticket or MLB extra innings. Whats up with that?

I have had U-Verse for 9 months now and I have no intentions of going back to overpriced subchannel, overloaded node Comcast. While the service of U-Verse at first was a little harry...I have had no problems with my 450 package(HD Video, internet 12meg (24 hr avg 11.5), digital phone, and for autobilling Cell phone. Total $276.98. I might add, I live approximately 2200 feet from the VRAD which qualifies me for 2 HD and 4 standard channels. Because of the increased commercials the providers are inputing, I find myself recording more and fast forwarding on the DVR, so the 2 at once limited streams of HD is no problem.

I switched from DirectTV in July to Uverse and NEVER looked back. I LUVVVV my HD from ATT. I have not had even one moment of problems with the service. No way would I EVER consider going back to satellite. You can only watch that in ideal conditions. The signal would get lost even on bright sun shinny days. Rain or shine, I can always watch the Uverse.
It's too bad those of you who have had bad experiences because you don't get to experience the incredibleness of the Uverse!
If you are considering it, I would at least give it a try to see how it works.
