DIRECTV Choice Package

DIRECTV offers several different programming packages, designed for any home entertainment situation. While its nice to have all of the channels available, found in packages like the DIRECTV Premier package, others prefer a smaller package, and of course the smaller price that comes along with a package like the Direct TV Choice bundle.  The DIRECTV Choice package is a great package to start off with when you first subscribe to satellite TV.

Why?

Because of the wide channel selection, and the low initial cost. Currently, the DIRECTV Choice package is $29.99 for the first 12 months, a $23 dollar discount off of the normal price. While the normal package price is $52.99, thats still about $10 less than a comparable cable TV package like Comcast digital cable.  The reasonable price makes this a great option when comparing DIRECTV vs Cable TV.

So what can you expect when subscribing to the DIRECTV Choice package? Of course a wide variety of channels for everyone in the house. The DIRECTV Choice package includes local channels as well in almost all areas of the country. Currently, DIRECTV reaches about 95% of the country with local channel programming. DIRECTV is also expanding their HD local channel programming. Currently, about 80% of US television households can receive their local channels in HD through DIRECTV and the Choice package. Another factor to consider whether you have an HDTV or not is signal and picture quality. DIRECTV currently offers 100% digital programming, both video and audio. This differs from many cable TV providers, where analog signals are often used for many channels. Cable companies like Comcast, Charter, and Time Warner upgrade areas one at a time, meaning well populated areas usually get more digital channels, while smaller communities have to wait for upgrades from analog signals.

The DIRECTV Choice package includes one receiver for the price listed. For a few bucks more though, you can have DIRECTV DVR service. You can order a DIRECTV DVR for either SD or HD purposes. Either way, the Choice package with DVR is and extra $5.99 per month, and will completely change the way you watch TV. Record your favorite shows, then watch them at your convenience while skipping through all of the commercials. Overall, the DIRECTV Choice DVR package is a great time saver, with a minimal monthly fee.

Now if you have a new HDTV, you certainly want the best programming out there in order to light up the TV screen. DIRECTV Choice with HD will give you all of the channels that broadcast in HD within the Choice programming package. The monthly access fee for HD service with DirecTV is $9.99 per month. Currently, DIRECTV is offering free HD for three months for new customers, so its a great time to try it out and see the difference. A high definition receiver is necessary to receive the HD signal, DIRECTV can advise you on the best setup for your situation.
