DISH Network caught many satellite television viewers off guard with a sudden expansion of their national HD lineup. The release, issued late yesterday states they will add 22 new national HD channels. After reviewing the list, 19 are actually new, and 3 have been on board for a few weeks, CNN HD, Sci Fi HD, and USA HD.
The press release announced the addition of the following HD channels:

ESPNews HD- Channel 142
Weather Channel HD- Channel 214
World Fishing Network HD Channel 396
USA HD Channel. 105
Travel Channel HD -Channel 215
Smithsonian HD – Channel 374

Toon Disney HD Channel 174
Tennis Channel HD- Channel 400

The additions come right before DISH Network’s first quarter results, due to be released on Wednesday, May 13th. Are the new HD channels a hedge against a possible bad earnings report? We will have to wait to find out. But DISH Network has struggled to keep pace with DIRECTV, which reported 275,000 gross additions in their recent report.
One notable addition on the list is the Travel Channel HD. Available only to Cox subscribers since its launch in January, DISH Network gets this channel on satellite TV before Direct TV.
DISH Network said the channels will be live on Monday, with the exception of the Comcast sports channels, which will be live on Wednesday the 14th.
With the sudden addition of so many HD channels, DISH Network will now be able to go toe-to-toe again with DIRECTV as they battle for the title of HD champion. DISH’s press release says they now have over 95 channels, but were not specific with an exact number.
The satellite provider is now easily within reach of their 100 HD channel goal, promised by the end of 2008.

I would rather have Rush and Rave over any of the new channels!!!!!! These new channels SUCK and so does Dish Network!!!! What a RIP OFF!!!!
