DISH Network Expands Local HD Reach

DISH Network continued on the trail toward 100 local HD markets with the addition of two more localities today. The latest additions to the local HDTV world are:

With these additions, DISH Network can now reach nearly two-thirds of U.S. households with local HD programming. To be precise, DISH Network now reaches 57 markets representing 66% of households. In yesterdays conference call regarding their 1st quarter results, DIRECTV said they reach 77 markets representing 76% of television households.

While DISH Network’s local HD expansion in good news for subscribers in these localities, the question is when will DISH get going on national HD channels? No new national HD channels have been added since mid-April, when CNN HD, Sci Fi and USA HD were added.
