Usually the start of Indiana basketball, regarded as a second religion in the Hoosier state, is a time of joy and happines. Not this year however, as many fans are caught in the crossfire in the ongoing dispute between various cable operators and the Big Ten Network.
Disgruntled fans of IU basketball, are beginning to reach the end of their collective ropes. With plenty of blame to go around on both sides, fans are considering all of their options. Some have made the jump to satellite tv providers Directv and Dish Network.
The Big Ten Network, for its part, continues to play the propaganda game. On its website, it has a myth-vs-fact section spelling out its position with the cable companies. On the other hand, the cable companies have a good point in that the Big Ten Network is basically dressed up in a ski mask and is holding a gun to the head of everyone involved, demanding huge cash for the network. They certainly understand that IU basketball, and sports in general are big business, high demand products in the midwest, and they are going to get every dime they can in return for their product.
