Will Verizion outdo DirecTV?

Word is Verizion’s new FiOS service, now being deployed over the Verizon footprint area is shooting for the moon with 150 Hi-Def channels. The promise, with a target completion date of late 2008, trumps the DIRECTV promise to deliver 100+ Hi-Def channels by early next year.

Wow! What else can I say, I can’t curb my enthusiasm any more. I will now be able to see all seven C-Spans in sparkling, crystal clear HDTV. Is Hi Def really a must on all of these third tier channels? Well maybe the geek in me says “Sure, I must see C-Span in Hi-Def, I need to see the extreme detail on Ted Kennedy’s fifteen chins.”
Only time will tell, but with competition heating up, cable and satellite tv companies are certainly taking the “more is better” approach.
